Amrita Singh & Casual Work

Obviously, the petite blogging community is enamored with THEORY, and I am no exception. I actually found my first Theory blazer at a T.J. Maxx in 2008. I picked it up because I saw it was a 00, and at this point 00's were very rare. I tried on the blazer and was amazed at the fit right off the rack. I was not sure about the color because it was in between being blue and grey. Then I saw the price tag and at 100 dollars I was even more skeptical. (Keep in mind, this was 2008, I had never heard of Theory before, and my experience with suits was minimal at best, so I thought 100 dollars for a blazer was a lot - boy was I wrong.)

Anyway, I decided to get the jacket because I had never had something fit me so well, and I figured I could make it work. It sat in my closet for 2 years unworn. Here is my now beloved blazer, the Theory Nettie in 00.

I didn't wear this thing from 2008 to 2010 because I was a student, and the job I did have I was allowed to dress business casual so I stuck to cardigans. Then last summer, working at my first truly legal job, I had to wear it, and I made it work. I needed to wear a blazer almost every day, so I pulled this baby out and tried it with white, navy, and tans. It sure is no black suit, but it is a nice change of pace to wear this working in a "black grey and navy" field.

Blazer: Theory Nettie 00 - no idea what the fabric name is, Shirt: Polo sz 2, Necklace: Amrita Singh Montauk via Hautelook

I LOVE Amrita Singh jewelry. It is pricier than I normally pay for costume jewelry (way out of the Forever 21 approx $6.80 range) but I love the stones she uses, the colors, and everything seems very sturdy and well made, which cannot be said for Forever 21 stuff. The fact that the pieces look very classic and are severely discounted on Hautelook helped me to order 3 things this past sale (I already own 2 more). So, I got the light pink Montauk necklace and matching earrings...

The stones almost remind me of the YSL Arty ring that everyone seems to have. I also got this necklace from the Hautelook sale:

Necklace: Amrita Singh Temaz, Shirt: Express XS, Blouse: bebe XXS
The necklace looked much shorter and thinner online than in person - but I am completely OK with it being longer and thicker. I wanted it as a statement piece and it SURE IS. I wore this outfit to a friend's apartment for dinner last night and got many compliments on the necklace. The necklace itself is made up of tiny little gold colored leaves that are all grouped together and made into a strand. Very interesting when you get up close. I should have taken a picture.
