in the navy

I went from never shopping at Zara ever to coveting Zara clothes and shoes in a short time. I picked up this metallic and tweed jacket during their seasonal sale and I've been dying to wear it. Navy is a hard color for me to match because it doesn't necessarily "go" with black, but I figured for my first outfit I would try a monochrome thing. The jacket itself is from Zara's TRF juniors line and is a size S. Surprisingly it fit very well - better than most XS items that I tried on. And the best part is that the sleeves run pretty short and I don't need to get them altered!
On a completely different note, I spoke in court for the first time the other day! All I did was accept a plea offer for a client but it was still thrilling. This week I hope to do some client interviews and depositions, and next week I might argue a motion in court!

lumberjack take 2

Ever since I bought my red and blue plaid flannel shirt from H&M over winter break, I've been reaching for it in every possible way. I decided after wearing this shirt three times in one week that I needed to expand my plaid collection so as not to embarrass myself at school by seemingly wearing the same thing every day. Thankfully, Target once again fit the bill with their sale on the juniors line of plaid shirts. I picked up two colors but one was fugly, so this is the one I decided to keep. Also in that order I bought 4 pairs of shoes to meet the $50 minimum for free shipping. Most were "blah" but these turquoise/sea green loafers called out to me to keep them. For only ~$20 I figured why not?

suiting

I'm wearing this outfit to work tomorrow - the skirt just came in the mail today from Ann Taylor. I was finally able to track down a 00P in the skirt and I am so happy that I didn't settle for the 00R or the 0P because this one fits perfectly. The jacket is surprisingly a 0P (I have never fit into anything other than 00 before) so people smaller than me can hope to fit into the 00P. The entire suit keeps popping up in small sizes online here and there, so if you are interested check the website. And today Ann Taylor is offering an extra 60% off sale items, so maybe you can pick it up for a good price!
(note - the color on the left is more true to real life, the suit is a brown tweed)

Also, I wanted to point out that the nude leather on these shoes is NOT PATENT! I've been looking for nude non-patent heels for months now and I still haven't found an all-nude pair in my price range, but these not only have the type of leather I'm looking for, but also a little extra style with the patent cap-toe and heel.

leather & dress

Continuing with my love of leather mixed with femininity, I decided to wear this out to lunch with my friend at our favvvvorite place - Panera. Panera is seriously underrated by restauranteurs and Zagat, lol. I mean, the pick-two option alone makes me come back again and again because of the CHOICES! Who doesn't love choices when it comes to delicious food? But I digress. The outfit - A target floral dress scored for less than 10 dollars on clearance, mixed with grey and black "edgy" accessories = fun in my book. However, I will say the choice of shoes was poor on my part. Petite girls gotta watch those ankle straps because they can cut off your leg and make you look shorter than you are. Not only is the short-factor an issue, but I also think they kind of produce a cankle, which is flattering on no one. I will stick to wearing these with pants from now on - or super short mini skirts to ensure that the maximum amount of leg is shown. In other news, I finally purchased my christmas gift this past Thursday - a new camera. So we will see how I progress in picture taking. I'm also expecting a tripod in the mail today!

day to night

I've been super busy last week into this week. The new (and final) semester started last week but I had to jump right in at a new internship. I'm currently juggling 3 classes, working 3 days a week downtown and 1 day a week at a firm. I've actually liked some of my work outfits the past couple days but I've literally had 10 minutes home before I had to rush to class so I didn't bother taking pictures. Today I had a whopping 15 minutes so I snuck in some pictures before I headed off to class, and I decided to show you a "day to night" look. Or in my case "work to class" because class happens to be at night.

This was my first time wearing these shoes and MY LAWD they are comfortable. I have to walk approximately a mile to work between walking from my apartment to the Metro and from the Metro to my office, and my feet were surprisingly OK all day. For my night-time look, I kept the blouse and jewelry the same, and just threw on some jeans, a leather jacket, different shoes, and took my hair down. I'm loving the look of leather with feminine pieces, and this look of lace and leather is no exception.

break

Sometimes you just gotta take a break. From shopping that is. In the past week I've dropped about $800 on crap from Ann Taylor purely to meet their insanely high free shipping costs. I know full well that 95% of the things I've bought I will be returning, but it still pains me to think that I've spent that much money in a week. So, today I will take a break from shopping.
Until tomorrow...

I'm a little late to jump on the social media bandwagon, but recently I've been obsessed with Four Square. For some reason I enjoy telling everyone where I am at all times, even if it means I'm somewhere "boring" like McDonalds or my apartment complex. Maybe my subconscious is just begging for me to be stalked so I can finally use that Mace that's been sitting in my car for 3 years. Or maybe I just feel important enough that people care where I am at all times. Either or.

I gave these boots a test run while out to dinner with my BF and some friends at Cinco in Merrick Park last night. Totally comfortable and I'm a-keepin' them.

ann taylor in-store deals

I wanted to let everyone know about the pricing of some items in-store because I was wowed by some of the deals I found today, and hopefully you can take advantage of the discounts too.
Blazers by Ann Taylor at ShopStyle
Mid-length Skirts by Ann Taylor at ShopStyle

I purchased a full suit for approximately ~$130! The Moulinee Tweed Jacket is marked down to approximately $150 in stores plus the extra %40 off bringing the jacket to $90. I fit into a 0P which is generally unheard of! I also purchased the matching Moulinee Tweed A-Line skirt which was marked to $69.99 in stores plus the extra 40% off making the skirt $42. I originally purchased the skirt online in 00 regular, but it was swimming on me. I didn't think the 0P skirt would fit but I tried it on in-store anyway and it was smaller than the 00R! I know a 00P would fit me perfectly but the chances of finding that are slim to none because I already tried to order a 00P from another store and the order was cancelled. I plan to hopefully slim the sides of this skirt making it fit better but also form it into a pencil rather than A-line skirt.

Evening Shoes by Ann Taylor at ShopStyle

My particular Ann Taylor had some shoes sparsely located throughout the store. I happened to see the Kamela Lizard Stamped Leather Wedges in size 7 and grabbed them thinking I could exchange them for the 7.5's that I ordered online. (in my previous post I thought the 7.5 fit better than the 7 but I changed my mind once I noticed my feet were uncontrollably slipping out of the 7.5's - I'd rather shoes be tight and form to my feet than too loose). When I went up to the counter to pay, I intended for them to hold the shoes for me so I could bring in my shoes from online and make an exchange, but the woman assured me that the shoes were on sale - and they were SURE ON SALE! The shoes came to $46 after the extra 40% off! Online they will come to about $77 after the 40% off! Check your stores for this deal!

Finally, before I checked out I looked at the jewelry. There were so many beautiful pieces on sale that I wanted to buy, but I limited myself to the following 3 - I might have to make another stop at the jewelry section when I go back to Ann Taylor tomorrow to return the rest of my online order :)
I can't find any of these pieces online, but check your local stores. The top necklace was marked to $30 plus 40% off, the left bracelet was $20 with 40% off, and the right bracelet was $50 with 40% off.

ann taylor and zara sale shoes

Well, I'm back in Miami! It's been 80 degrees every day since I've been back, and I haven't had a chance to wear any of my boots or jackets that I've been missing SO BADLY for the past month while in Connecticut! And to make matters worse, I visited my local Zara the other day to find that a great Sale was going on, and I ended up purchasing boots and a jacket from the sale which I am dying to wear but the heat is just not letting me wear them!

I purchased the Kamela Lizard Stamped Pump from Ann Taylor for ~ $77 in both black and brown from the 40% off sale. I got the brown in a 7 and the black in a 7.5 to try different sizes. I had no intention of keeping either pair of shoe for $77, but THEN Ann Taylor just had the nerve to have a 60% off sale a day after I purchased the shoes, so I re-purchased the brown in 7 for only $56. Unfortunately, the brown in 7 are very narrow and feel small. I did try them on at the end of the day (when feet are supposed to be more swollen) so I will give them a try in the morning when my feet have had a time to rest. The 7.5 in black (shown below) are very comfortable and they fit me much better than the 7 right now. But since they were sold out of the 7.5 during the 60% off sale, I'm not sure if I can bear to keep these for $77 :(

Next I bought these Zara Two Tone Heeled Boots in-store for $79.99. They are sold out online but if you can find them in store they should be marked down to $59.99.  I know this is cheap of me, but I have honestly only paid over $50 for shoes once or twice since I've been making my own money, so I'm not sure if I can justify keeping these very trendy shoes that might go out of style quickly. I do love the two-tone, especially the combination of camel and black (and suede and matte leather). I liked that the shoes are real cow leather and not pleather, and I like that these have a chunky heel which makes them easier to walk in, but I decided to bring them home and "contemplate the purchase" for a few days before I make my decision whether to keep them or not.
As always, any suggestions or comments are appreciated as to whether I should keep these items!

found again fashion: seersucker blazer and white pumps

My parents found out that they are relocating to the Maryland/DC metro area soon and with that in mind I took some time during this vacation to clean out my childhood room and purge my closet. In the middle of that task, I found this thrifted seersucker blazer that I purchased over 7 years ago. It never fit (it's a size 8 according to the tag) but I bought it for a camp dance theme (I worked at a tennis camp my senior year of high school and two summers of college). I've kept it despite the ill fit because I love the print and I think some day it could be tailored. The shoulders actually fit pretty well, it is just the body that is too bulky.

I also found some pointed toe white pumps that had scuffs all over them. I decided to try a little DIY project, turning the pumps into glitter pumps using Martha Stewart all purpose glitter paint that I got at Michaels. I still don't LOVE the pumps (not a fan of the pointed toe or the coverage of the paint), but they are much more likely to be worn now than they were in their white/scuffed state. I put at least 7 coats (I lost count) of paint on the shoes and they still are not fully covered with glitter. I think if I bring them back to Miami I might try adding some loose glitter with mod podge instead of glitter paint as the last layer.

lumberjack

I drove up to Vermont with BF yesterday. My parents have a house in Ludlow overlooking Okemo mountain. I forced BF to stop at a mall on the drive up because I wanted to go into H&M (Miami and south Florida in general are seriously lacking H&M stores). I ended up picking up this very lumberjack-esque flannel shirt from the Divided line. The fit was slimmer than the Logg line flannel shirts that others have reviewed, and the sleeves were also shorter. I almost even bought a size 4 and tried to shrink it slightly, but just went with the 2 instead.

I also stopped into the BIGGEST Forever 21 I've ever seen in my life. Now, I haven't been to the one in Times Square or anything, but this was in freakin' Holyoke, MA, yet had 2 stories and carried a TON of things. Not only did they have a jewelry section, but also shoes, bags/purses, tights, they had an entire coat section, they carried mens, little girls, the 21+ line, Heritage 1981, and everything else that a normal F21 store would carry. The organization was impeccable. They also had an extensive sale section (but it was not organized well and was too burdensome for me to look through). I got to try on these shoes reviewed by Elle, and I do agree they look pretty cheap in person, but were also comfortable (the cheap outweighed the comfort). I also tried on some colored denim, but the pants didn't fit that well for me to purchase. In the end, I only walked away with 4 basic tees/tanks for a total of 15 dollars. If only I had more time...
This is the view of Okemo from my house. This is the south side of the mountain, with two other peaks not visible. Say hi to my neighbors, lol.
While at the local beer/wine store, BF and I decided to buy cider and stout and mix them. It is a delicious drink that doesn't taste like beer or alcohol AT ALL. I may be a cider/stout convert!

Thanks for reading!

b-day

My birthday was last week and when I arrived in Philadelphia, BF took me out to the Melting Pot for my birthday dinner. I cannot describe how excited I was for this restaurant. I LOVE FONDUE!!! I wish more fondue restaurants existed, but Melting Pot seems to have the monopoly on that category. I'm not very good in the kitchen, but I think I love fondue so much that I might make it in 2012.

neon new year

Happy New Year! I spent my new year's eve in Philadelphia with my BF and some of his friends. We didn't make any plans until 5:30 PM on NYE, which was way too last minute for me, but it ended up being a good night. We had dinner at a Japanese restaurant (food was good, service not so much), and then went into a few random bars to celebrate the new year. At the last minute, I opted for comfortable boots over high heels this year, and my feet were happy with my choice. I couldn't think of a sneaky way to make sure that people taking pictures got my entire outfit, so here it is in 3 separate pictures, lol. Again, Happy New Year, and THANK YOU to everyone who has followed me and reads this blog! I appreciate it!
