30 x 30 Day 4: Burgundy, white, grey

Today I had an interesting/sad situation at work - a potential client was deciding whether she was going to hire me for an eviction case. She was supposed to come in today with her boyfriend to decide for sure if they were going to get a lawyer, but I got a call a little before her scheduled appointment time that they received at 24 hour notice to evict posted on their door. The law is probably different in every state, but in FL, once that notice is posted you can technically be kicked out by the sheriff within 24 hours after the notice is posted. I called the sheriff and they are back logged by about a week in actually enforcing those notices, so I told her she had a week before somebody showed up at her door and literally threw her belongings to the curb. The only thing I could think of that she could do for herself is to file an emergency motion to set aside the judgment against her (and the 24 hour notice would then be postponed) but since she didn't hire me I couldn't do it for her. I feel bad sometimes when I can't help people to the fullest extent but then again I did the most I could without being her actual lawyer. Let this be a lesson to any renters who read my blog - go out and read all the landlord tenant statutes in your state! I learned so much in the last week that I should have already known for years as a renter. ANYWAY, outfit time.

  1. Well, I'm glad you were able to do as much as you did! I'm so glad you called it Burgundy instead of "oxblood"!

  2. Lol I just think oxblood sounds so morbid! Plus, my untrained eye can't tell the difference (if there even is any) between the oxblood shade and the burgundy shade :)

  3. Glad you have the compassion to help anyway, even if not as her lawyer.

You look so great in this outfit!! I love the pale peachy color with the burgundy - subtle but makes such a difference!
