My point is, when I was younger, I bought what I liked because I thought it was cute and looked nice on me. I didn't buy anything because it was "designer" or brand name. I can't put an exact date on it, but I think I became "aware" of fashion and designers when Longchamp bags became popular a la 2007-2008. I saw them, I liked them, and I wanted to have one for myself. Even then, I liked Longchamp because I liked the look of the bags, not because it was considered a designer brand.
Anyway, when did you become conscious of fashion? Enjoy some pics below of some of the designer bags via 2005 and some of my freakin' awesome fashion choices :)
A Fendi bag next to my little Guess bag. So many things wrong with this picture. 1) my roots - this is why I didn't stay blonde for very long, 2) stomach showing?? 3) matchy matchy belt and shirt, 4) flip flops to go out at night?!? 5) pants dragging on the ground. At least we can look back and laugh now.
Oh, you know, just carrying Chanel out to the bar! NBD!
Louis Vuitton mixed with Abercrombie & Fitch. What a great combo!
Watch out that your beer doesn't spill on your pink Prada!
I apparently only owned 1 necklace and 1 bag, lol. Say goodbye to 18-year-old me because I'm 99.9% sure I will never post pictures this old again, lol!
I think this is a good post for Random Wednesday - it's pretty random!

I have it on good authority that chanel bag is FAKE. haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm scared to look back on my old photos! A sorority sister of mine emailed me old college photos a couple of months ago and it literally scared me that I thought walking around in the clothes I wore at that time was okay! lol
ReplyDeleteOMG now I'm tempted to go look through old photos. But I definitely wouldn't be posting them! Interesting to think about designer duds, though...I definitely grew into that after college!
ReplyDeleteThis is too funny...I am scared what I would find if I went down memory lane.
ReplyDeleteYou may have only had one bag and one necklace but you rocked it!

Omigosh, this is such a fun look back! Looking at photos of myself from my first year of undergrad is also hilarious because I had a COMPLETELY different style 9 years ago. I had super short spikey hair and was all into "punk rawk"... But to be fair, those things we were wearing must have been in style at the time (at least that's what I'm telling myself!)

Lol, oh my! How much you have changed! As much as I love trends, I've never fell for the designer bags... Probably because I purposely try to ignore it knowing that these bags are way out of my budget and my bags tend to get dirty and gross fast! I rather go for something cheap that is functional...but ever since I started blogging though... I've been more conscious of bags that look good with outfits...so now I try to buy bags that are affordable, functional, and looks good on camera regardless of designer or not.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I sported nylon fanny packs when I was in my early college days, haha, not going back to that ;)
Deletelolol that was 2005 for ya!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine you with the punk rock look at all!! Can I press you for pictures? Someday?! haha
ReplyDeleteThe commentary is fantastic... don't spill that beer on your pink Prada! Girl I grew up in Kansas... Target was in style. Some girls had Dooney & Bourke bags in high school but looking back on it they weren't at all cute and they were almost definitely knockoffs. I love looking back on my school pics, the things we wore crack me up. Thanks for sharing :)

Although I am AWARE of brands, I still dont' buy designer handbags and shoes, because it's not where I choose to spend my money. I do spend absurb money on designer jewelry though ... Hermes & Cartier make me weak. I think it takes more style to make inexpensive clothes look chic. I work one block from Rodeo Dr in Bev Hills and it amuses me when people complement me ALL the time on my Old Navy & JCrew jeans

I agree that it takes more style to make inexpensive clothes look chic. I'm so jealous of your designer jewelry! I think that's a smart way to spend your money, honestly, because I think metals last longer than leathers or fabrics :)
ReplyDeleteThe chanel, fendi, and louis vuitton are all fake.....
