Five Things (Tag)

Sam, from Sam Ipsa Loquitur, tagged me in the "Five Things" post which has been going around blogworld! I think the concept is to share five random facts about yourself, and then tag 5 more bloggers who you'd like to learn more random things about. So here goes:

1. I get into TV shows once they're already over. The only shows I'm watching in their current seasons are Parks & Rec and Vampire Diaries (it's my guilty pleasure). Everything else I watch is a series on Netflix that's already donezo. I think I do this because I get SO into shows I just wish I could watch MORE MORE MORE, and when the show is already over I can get obsessed and sit down and watch all of Nip Tuck in 7 days without leaving the house. This really helps my social life.
2.  I'm a nail biter, and I'm not proud of it. I think I started when I was around 6-7 years old because I do remember my mom painting my nails and trimming them when I was really little. I recently (like a month or so ago) tried to kick the habit by buying a Red Carpet Manicure at-home gel polish set, because gel polish is the ONLY THING that I can't physically bite through. It is slowly but surely working to make my nails long, but it isn't working to teach me to not bite my nails because I still TRY to bite them, I just physically can't bite them. If any psychologists are reading this, any suggestions on how to teach myself not to bite anymore?

3. Another Netflix fact. At least once a weekend I try to find a random independent movie on Netflix and watch the entire thing, no matter how weird or boring or bad I might think it is. Sometimes it's torture and other times I end up liking the movie. My favorite movie so far from this little experiment is called "Keith" starring teen singing sensation Jesse McCartney and that girl from the TV movie "My Date With the President's Daughter." I'm not joking, I loved this movie haha. The weirdest movie I've seen recently is called "Lars and the Real Girl" starring my fave Ryan Gosling, even though he looks like a child molester in the movie and is kinda fat (for him). I will say the movie was really good though - it is weird that I developed an emotional connection to a sex doll (you'll have to see the movie to understand!). The worst movie I've seen recently is called "Tiny Furniture" written by and starring Lena Dunham. I've heard great things about the show Girls so I wanted to give her a try, but I thought the storyline was nonexistent and booooringggg.
4. I'm 26 and I use under eye wrinkle cream every night. This is more of a preventive measure than anything else, and the only reason I'm doing this is because I won a giveaway with a ton of face products from Veronika's Blushing a few months ago so I feel like I should use them in case they go bad by the time I actually have wrinkles!

5. I don't take full advantage of my city. Miami has beaches, restaurants, museums, you name it.. I haven't been to the pool or beach in months if not a year. I have been to zero museums (I refuse to pay $20 or more to go to a museum for a few hours. I am spoiled from the free DC national museums and zoo). I do take advantage of restaurants, but I tend to stick to my neighborhood rather than venture out to other neighborhoods. Especially now that my BF is not living in the same city (or state) as me, I am not motivated to drive far just to eat well.

Thanks for listening to my random babble. Without further ado, I tag:

  1. OMG, I already wrote my post and your number one is my number four or something! I only ever get into TV shows when they're long done. Pretty Little Liars is my guilty pleasure :) I can't stand waiting a week for another episode. I think it makes me lose interest in the show! I really only half watch PLL when I do watch it, because I just can't stay interested in the story line if I can't immediately see what happens next!

I also saw Lars and the Real Girl, and eh. I've just decided I hate independent flicks. I used to be really into them in high school, but now I guess my attention span is so short (ha, a running theme in this comment) that I can't be bothered to watch a movie unless something explodes, an actor I love is in it, or it's hilarious. Indie flicks seem to have a minimal plot and be slow moving, more focus on the cinematography and "feel" to the movie rather than to be entertaining. AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FO THAT.

Also, USE THAT EYE CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's *never ever ever* too early to use anti-aging stuff (you are supposed to start at age 20!), and the eye area is the first area to show signs of age. It's even worse if you tug on that area at all when applying eye makeup or when scrubbing your makeup off. Seriously, I feel like the area above my eyelids is already drooping! I've been meaning to invest in some good anti-aging creams even though I'm only 21. It will pay off later!

K, your posts always make me post 23423 line long comments. OOPSIE.

  2. And, just in case your social life isn't in jeopardy enough, have you tried 24? It's 8 seasons long (you might have to quit your job) and is so intense and good, and I love it!

  3. Well I'm not exactly a psychiatrist (actually I'm not one at all. HA) but I did successfully stop biting my nails after like 18 years of being addicted to it. SO here's how I did it...
    1. You absolutely NEED to have a serious desire to stop. Until you decide you want to stop and are determined to, it will never happen. I stopped cold turkey- no turning back!
    2. Use a nail-growth treatment/serum. I used Sally Hansen's Nailgrowth Miracle serum, and it's awesome! You can use it on bare nails or painted nails, and you just need to put a bit on each nail and rub it in. When I was first growing my nails out I used it endlessly...probably 5 times a day!
    3. As soon as your nails are long enough to start getting chips/dents/rough edges, start filing them down to be smooth and even.
    4. Think of how pretty our nails/hands will look! I knew that I wanted my nails to be pretty for when Matt proposed and I had to take pictures of my ring/hand ;) vain, maybe, but it helped me!!

Hope these tips help! YOU CAN DO IT! :)

  5. I'm going to really try to get it into my head that I need to stop. The problem is, most of the time I don't realize I'm doing it until it's too late! I think number 4 should be really good motivation too haha :)

  9. Just came across your blog and it was fun reading these random things about you! I'm the same way when it comes to tv shows/netflix... I'll literally do nothing but eat and watch season after season of a show when I really get into it!

  10. I'm popping over from Bri Marie's blog... and I LOVE that you bash Tiny Furniture! I watched it a while back and found it to be the mosy dull, self-important, self-absorbed, idiotic bit of drivel I've seen in a long time.
Three cheers for your good taste!
