black, white, red tweed

Wore this to court last week when the weather was colder. It was crazy how as soon as it turned 60 degrees people busted out their knee length wool coats and scarves (men especially). Although I was colder than usual I didn't think it was cold enough to bring out my red coat. I'm praying that it stays kinda cold for a little while longer - I haven't gotten sick of my jackets and boots yet!

leather weather

It's finally leather weather in Miami! But because it's south Florida I ended up wearing a leather jacket with open-toed shoes... whatever. Just a casual outfit I wore out this weekend. I ended up getting this jacket for a great price during the Zara sale - real leather for something like ~$99?? Plus I've been meaning to retire this one that I've had for so long but I never wear because the fit isn't that great. This one fits much better especially in sleeve length and width. I couldn't find the jacket online but maybe it's still in stores?? It's from the TRF line.

winter white

Haven't been wearing too much white lately (although last year I was all about it) but I decided to bust out my white skirt for work this week while it's still sorta cold here. Goes well with my new favorite (men's) scarf that I won during a Christmas Eve white elephant/yankee swap (full disclosure I purchased this and had every intention of winning my own gift lol!). Oh and say hello to my new work bag - a gift from my mom for Christmas/my birthday. What should I do with my old tote - should I keep my old one or try to sell it? Also for anyone in the legal field who reads this blog - this bag FITS LEGAL FILES. It's pretty darn hard to find bags that tall or wide but this one fits it. And it's plan, black, and has nice structure. It also comes in so many colors so I'd definitely recommend it as a court/work bag.

Kinda prep kinda not

I wore this to the mall Sunday on this fine MLK weekend. It's been "cold" here (like 65-70 during the day and 45-50 at night) so I've been taking full advantage and wearing my boots and jackets as much as possible. These Frye boots are growing on me like crazy. I like that I can wear something like below (kinda J. Crew esque in my opinion) but also change it up and dress kind of grunge/edgy with the same shoes. I haven't made any purchases in what seems like months (thanks to Christmas and getting things as gifts) but yesterday at the mall I picked up this ring (pic below) which I've been wanting for a while. Now that I regularly do my nails I am getting more into wearing rings because I'm not as embarrassed to draw attention to my hands. Anyone else feel the same way, haha?

red white & black

I've been posting outfits a little out of order, but I wore this a few weeks ago to my office's "Christmas Lunch" lunch at Joe's on South Beach. We also do a little white elephant/yankee swap gift exchange. I ended up taking home the cutest scottish terrier salt and pepper shakers :) Perfect because I actually didn't have salt and pepper shakers! I wanted to be comfortable but I also wanted to wear something that I could go out in later, because we have a tradition of going to happy hour after the lunch is over. I rave about Ann Taylor like every day and this top is no exception - it's totally work appropriate from the front but when I took off the jacket later in the evening it showed an open back, which was fun for happy hour. Does your office have any holiday traditions?

Happy New Year!

And now for some poor-quality iPhone photos of what I wore to celebrate the New Year! I wasn't planning to buy a sequin dress but I stumbled across this one at Nordstrom while shopping with one of my friends, and it was the only one on the rack, in my size, for a reasonable price ($49), so I bought it. I spent New Years Eve with my friends at an apartment and then we went to a bar. It wasn't the most glamorous new years I've ever had, but it was nice to not spend $200 just to get IN to a place :) Hope everyone had a fun night. Here's to 2014!
