Flashback

I was with one of my friends when I bought this blazer and she immediately was like "omg put that down, it looks like something out of Ferris Bueller's day off" and I said "that's why I like it!" Anyway, it was only $35 and I really like the colors and pattern, plus it's very soft, so I figured I'd try it out. I wore this to court on a Friday when I only had 1 courtroom to go to. I would never wear this to trial because of the sort of loud pattern, but I think it's great for a Friday or more casual day at the office.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014

I'm so grateful for the opportunity that I had this year to go to a few of the Swim Week shows last weekend. This year, I tried to soak in more of the sights rather than try to capture images with my camera or phone. There really is no point in me trying to take amazing pictures because there were like 50+ photographers at every show, and I'm sure amazing images are already online! I had 3 possible outfits that I was choosing from, and I was surprised by my own last-second choice to go with this very old dress (possibly tunic that I just wear as a dress, lol) (5 years!) I figured I am always drawn to my "new" clothes so I should take the opportunity to wear something old that I still like and pair it with new items (my shoes) and some loved but rarely worn items (my bag). Unfortunately my shoes got a littttttle messed up in a torrential downpour, but I think with some scrubbing I can get them to look good as new. Check out what I wore below along with my favorite bikinis from the shows I saw, along with videos of the Dolores Cortes, Frankie's Bikinis, and Wildfox shows!

Little Black (Lace) Dress

I went shopping with a friend of mine 2 weekends ago and I picked up this black lace dress on a whim at Nordstrom. After just recently posting about not owning a real "LBD" now I can say I do! FYI this dress by ASTR runs very small in the waist, with an XS seeming like it fits similarly to my 00 items. An online search revealed the dress also comes in white lace.. and I honestly have to practice restraint not to go out and get the white version too.

Summer Work Wear

The Zara seasonal sale is in full swing (anyone pick up anything good?) and I ordered the below jacket to try during a 1 AM shopping spree (a rarity these days for me). FYI it's actually a pretty heavy jacket, but the color is certainly summer appropriate. I was hoping for something in more of a summer fabric but I liked the jacket too much to return it. How do you dress differently for the office in the summer?

Brown Tweed & LBD

I always hear about the "LBD" (little black dress) and I always think to myself "I don't own one." And I kind of don't. I don't have a fancy/sexy/perfectly fitting black dress in case some last minute "occasion" comes up where I need a perfect dress. But I do have this Theory "LBD" that is my go-to work dress recently. This is mostly a work-wear blog, and most people in the United States work 5 days a week (or 70% of the week if you want to crunch numbers), so I think it's more practical to have a LBD for work than for a random weekend event. Also, since I got this dress tailored, I could even probablyyy wear it on the weekend if I wanted to. Ah, the magic of tailoring. Maybe I do have a LBD after all. Do you own a LBD, or a work wear LBD?

Bronzers & Beer Pong

I wore this to dinner a few weeks ago and to play beer pong afterward. Yes - beer pong. I'm a little nostalgic for college recently. I miss playing card games and house parties. I'm kind of sick of bars and super loud music. But this blog isn't about drinking so I'll get to my outfit. I wore the same outfit with heels on another day, but because I knew I was going to a dirty bar to throw a ping pong ball into red cups I opted for flat boots, and my feet thanked me later. Also, I'm wearing a product recommended to me by a friend - Lorac's Tantalizer. It's a shimmery/golden bronzing makeup that you can put pretty much anywhere you want, but I think it's mostly for legs and arms. It applies very smoothly and evenly. It does slightly rub off on white clothing (I noticed the arm holes of my shirt had some color later) but the color payoff is great and the golden shimmer is gorgeous. It's not like 2002 body glitter shimmer, it's hard to explain. I recommend going to your local Ulta or Sephora to try it out if you're interested. Also, if you sit while it's on your legs it will rub off slightly - I unfortunately stained a friend's black leather car seats - OOPS sorry! But it apparently wiped off easily. Insert embarrassed face emoji here, lol.

Opposite of Summer

I ordered this super lightweight tank from Ann Taylor (worn below) during one of the extra 60% off sale promotions, and everything about it says "summer" except for the fact that it's black. I felt kind of odd wearing this outfit in the middle of 90 degree heat because of the colors and winter textures, but I wasn't uncomfortably warm. Although I have never (repeat - never) worn open toed or open heeled shoes to court in the past 2 years, I think I could get away with it in the summer in Miami. This outfit might have made more sense for the summer if I wore a peep toe or sandal or something instead of suede burgundy wedges, lol. Also could wear my white jacket with this.. WHATEVER, too late now haha. I'll keep it in mind for next time.

Casual Friday

I actually wore this on a Monday last week when I didn't have court, but is something I would normally wear on a Friday. My firm just moved offices this past Friday/Saturday so I'm in the middle of setting everything back up the way in my office. I ordered a new desk which should be arriving today so that will be fun to set up (not). I had a hard time putting together Target chairs with like 2 steps of directions so we'll see how I do with a giant desk! I do love the stuff I picked out though - got these chairs from Target (currently 20% off) and this desk by Kathy Ireland, if, you know, you're in the market for new furniture. The chairs are actually kitchen chairs FYI but I think they could work anywhere - living room, office, bedroom, etc.
