Lilly x Target

Guys... I braved the lines and the crazed moms and teens this weekend to get my hands on some Lilly Pulitzer for Target stuff! My friend and I got to our local store around 7:20 AM, and there was already a line of about 50 people in front of us. Friends were saving places for other friends so the line grew even longer as we waited for the doors to open at 8 (and the line grew behind us, too). Our game plan was for my friend to run to the home goods/accessories sections and me to hit women's clothing to try to get the most stuff for both of us. Being surrounded by real Lilly wearing moms had its advantage - they were a bit slow. I was able to reach in and grab a bunch of stuff to try on (the 2 dresses below plus other clothing items) but the 2 dresses below were the only keepers for clothing for me. I would have loved to get the shift dress in the "Fan Dance" print, and I had my eye on the online-only "Happy Place" print, but I'm happy with the 2 prints I got. I also tried on the dress in "See Ya Later" but it was much too neon for me.
The dress above is in the "Upstream" print. I originally grabbed a size 8 (obviously much too big for me) but I held onto it to try to trade, and it paid off. I was able to trade it out for a 4 which was only slightly too big. I have the above dress pulled back with hairclips - I plan to get it tailored.
FYI - these dresses are great for tailoring because the zippers are down the middle of the back - so all that would be needed are seams down the sides and possibly a hem if you want it shorter. I like this length though so I plan to keep it the same.
I was able to grab the above giraffe-print dress in a 2 and a 4 for my friend and I, and we both kept the dress. I'm wearing the 2 above, and it's also slightly big. I plan to get it taken in on the sides as well as taken up to be a bit more form-fitting. I also have this dress clipped in the back.
While I grabbed clothes for us to try on, my friend grabbed scarves. I then ran to meet her and came across ladies hoarding all of the makeup bags - I grabbed 2 small ones for my friend and I but we didn't buy them. I was hoping to get one of the larger makeup cases but - NOPE. Didn't get one in time. We also missed out on the weekender bags. My friend grabbed some towels for us, too, but we also put those back later after we assessed our loot. The only other thing I kept was a scarf in the "Belladonna" print. I was hoping to grab the scarf in "Boom Boom" but also didn't get that in time. The best thing about the scarves though (at least the ones my friend and I got) is that they're super lightweight and are perfect beach coverups/sarongs. Given I live in the tropics I think I'll get more use out of it as a sarong than as a scarf for warmth.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchases. I can't wait to bring the dresses to the tailor to make them the perfect fit. I have a few bridal showers/etc coming up that I want to wear them. I'm going to keep my eye out for the makeup cases in case they're re-stocked or at the local store.

Did you shop the Lilly x Target online or in-store sale? What did you think? - and of course, what did you get??

  1. Really smart to get what you could and then tailor them - still ends up being cheaper than true Lilly. Super cute dresses!!
