Return of the Green Pants

I started a new job last week and am still getting used to the dress code. We didn't really have a dress code conversation, and I haven't seen any "rules," but I can tell from how everyone else dresses that it's business casual (even Fridays, sad face) which is more formal than my last office. I don't have to adjust my wardrobe, I'm just going to be wearing pieces I didn't wear very often before  - case in point, these green pants have been in the back of my closet because they were a bit too casual for court, but they were too dressy for my last job..but now they make sense on office days. I wore this today to an impromptu mediation that I was asked to shadow, and I switched the cardigan for a blazer I had in my car. I usually wear a suit or a dress with blazer to mediations but this "worked" for the last minute meeting.

Floral Tulip Dress & Orange Moto Jacket

I wore this out to dinner last weekend with my BF and my oldest friend (we've known each other since we were 5!) out in South Beach at Katsuya restaurant. It was the best sushi meal I've ever had (we tried the tasting menu) - and that's saying something because I'm not very adventurous when it comes to fish, let alone raw fish. If you're visiting the area I would definitely recommend trying the restaurant and especially the tasting menu for 2. (P.S. I got caught taking these pics and got embarrassed so I ran inside! I swear, even after 4 years of this blog, I still blush when I'm caught photographing myself!).  I also wore this dress to a rehearsal dinner for a wedding back in September, but, alas, there were no photos taken. #photosoritdidnthappen

Mesh-Front Waterfall Sweater

Ann Taylor recently had an extra 60% off sale online, so I decided to buy a few things to try out - I was honestly not happy with a lot of the purchases - I returned most of them. (Is it me, or has the fit been off at AT recently? And the quality is lacking...) However, the below sweater was a keeper. It is rather thin (which is OK for Florida), the sleeves are sheer (again, OK for Florida), and I like the waterfall and mesh-detailed front. I wouldn't pay full price for it, but I kept it at the sale price of $30 as something to keep me warm in the office, or to throw on casually. I wore this to the office on an office day where I had a networking happy hour after work - I took off the sweater for the happy hour considering it felt like it was about 100 degrees outside.

Longline Checkered Blazer

I wore this outfit to work a few weeks ago on a day I had a deposition. This Theory jacket is another one of my recent Nordstrom Rack finds. I was worried about the long length being too long considering I'm 5'3", but I really like it - kind of reminds me of an 80's power suit. Plus it completely covers my behind -- a nice touch. So far I've worn it with a navy dress and the outfit below, but it would also look nice with my tan dress or pants, navy pants, and casually with jeans.

Black & White Checked Shift

Due to some prompting from my mother, I sat down today and found an outfit from a few weeks ago that I forgot to post. I've been on a Nordstrom Rack/Saks Off 5th kick recently. I've been stopping in often on lunch breaks to browse, and I've been pleasantly surprised by a lot of the stuff I've scored. I'm a very tactile shopper (I touch everything) - this dress stood out to me in an unorganized clearance rack because I knew from the touch that it was silk. I got it thinking I could maybe wear it to work on a casual office day with a blazer or sweater (no court or client meetings for sure), but I haven't had the guts to wear it there yet. Although my office is casual, it probably borders on too short. I could try it over black jeans for a sort of European look though. I wore the below outfit to a going away party for a friend.
