Cobalt Dress & Yellow Necklace

I wore this cobalt blue Shoshanna dress to work a few weeks ago on a very muggy day. Not pictured is my cream colored waterfall cardigan which I layered on top to keep me warm in the office. I loved the color of this dress, but it was made of a very thin fabric which was shapeless and unforgiving around the middle. The quality didn't feel like a several-hundred-dollar dress. Even though I wouldn't rent or purchase this dress again, it did give me a pretty cute work outfit :)

Neon Stripe Dress at Work

I rented this Trina Turk dress for work a while back but when it arrived the v-neckline was way too low for work. I ended up wearing it to work with a sweater over it on one day, and wore the dress as-is on a date night. Below is how I wore it to work on an office day. I played up the bright neon colors in the dress with my necklace. Definitely great for summer!

Green & Navy

I wore this outfit to work on a regular office day. As much as I love this jacket (it's so soft, it doesn't feel like a stifling regular blazer), I just don't have the guts to wear it to more important meetings, so right now it only gets used on regular office days. I pulled the green from the jacket and went all out with my accessories - my one green necklace and my awesome custom-made green pumps from Pretty Small Shoes

Cutout Surprise

When I decided to rent this dress, I'll be honest that I didn't look at the back. When it arrived I was definitely surprised to see the little cutout and thought, "maybe I should just send it back immediately without wearing it?" - but I ended up wearing it to my office on a regular day (albeit extremely muggy) with a cardigan covering my back - problem solved. The real problem was that despite my peanut sized head, I had difficulty fitting it through the head hole. Like, I thought I was going to have to ask for help to get the dress off - that kind of difficulty. Probably would not rent again, sorry!

Workin' at the Car Wash

I wore this dress to work on a day I had a deposition. What an interesting take on a classic LBD, no? I love the front slits that almost remind me of car wash flaps. (Below are some other 'car wash' style dresses that I found). I accessorized with all gold and ended up also wearing a trusty Ann Taylor cardigan (not pictured) in the office since I would be cold without sleeves. If you added a blazer, this dress could easily be appropriate in a business formal setting. Maybe I wouldn't wear this dress to trial, but I would definitely wear it to a business formal office.

DVF Classic Wrap Dress

For years, women have touted DVF wrap dresses as the "go to" work dress. I can finally see what all the hype is about. The shape is timeless and flattering on everyone, but the best part is simply the feel of the fabric - it feels luxurious and smooth on my skin, and it hardly wrinkles, making it the perfect travel dress. I think it's a little low cut on me for work, so I added a tank underneath, but it was an easy fix. The downside, of course, is that the price is steep - DVF wrap dresses retail for ~$400.00 before sales.. but this might just be worth the price as an "investment piece." I'm thinking of getting one in a solid black or navy to compliment my work wardrobe. The other new addition in these pictures is my David Yurman necklace courtesy of my BF for our anniversary. I love love love it!

Mint Dress at Work

I wore this dress on a day I had a deposition. I really loved this Shoshanna dress - the long sleeves kept me warm in my frigid office, the color was perfect for spring/summer, and the shape of this dress just made walking feel fun.

Date Night: Backless Maxi Dress

At this point, I assume everyone knows this is the last year that Victoria's Secret will offer swimwear (sad face). A friend of mine who works in the fashion industry in NY got early wind that this season would be the last for swimwear and thankfully passed on the info to my friend group, so the first sale I saw I pounced on a bunch of swimsuits and coverups when everything was still in stock. The below dress was actually listed in the coverup section, but when I tried it on I knew I could get away with wearing it as a normal dress, too. I hate going bra-less, so I jumped on the bralette bandwagon and picked up 2 affordable ones from Aerie (my 2nd favorite place for underwear after VS). Below I'm wearing the maxi-dress/coverup with the bralette underneath and showing in the back, but if you have confidence (or a backless bra) you could wear it without a bralette. I wore this out to dinner at The Office in downtown Delray Beach with my BF. Honestly not a fan of the food, but would be a fun place to get drinks in the future.

Pastel Pink Wrap Dress and Transparency

I wore the below outfit to a mediation the other week. I like to keep it real here - I show outfits that I actually wear, and sometimes I take pictures after being at work all day. Below is one of those days - the dress was horribly wrinkled after being in a car for 2 hours driving back and forth to the mediation, plus sitting down at my desk for hours and hours afterward. It did not photograph well, so I used a little touch up in photoshop to make the wrinkles mostly go away. I like to be transparent here because I know most bloggers are not, which can be irksome and creates an illusion of what life is supposed to be. Life is wrinkles after driving for hours!

Anyway - I am sad that this dress wrinkles so easily, but I do love it and it was a great price at a recent Ann Taylor extra 60% off sale. They also have it in white and navy. The white was pretty sheer though, FYI. The next time I wear it will probably just be on an office day given the wrinkles.

Date Night: Neon striped dress

I rented this dress from Rent the Runway a while back for work, but the v-neck front was way lower than expected. I decided I couldn't wear it to work without something to cover it, so I held off on wearing it to work and wore it on a date night instead. I'll show you how I ended up wearing it to work in another post. The dress was pretty shapeless, so I used a belt to cinch it in at my waist. I also used my blue shoes to pull out the blue color from the dress. Shoes = one of my favorite Zara purchases to date. Got them about 2 years ago!
